Consistent Bass Action and Clear Water Conditions
Colorado River Bridge - Wharton, TX
Lake O.H. Ivie continues to perform well for anglers targeting Largemouth Bass. Water levels remain steady, and clarity is fair in most areas. The bite has been most active during early morning hours, especially from sunrise through mid-morning.
Bass are holding in 6 to 15 feet of water, with soft plastics, crankbaits, and jerkbaits producing solid results near brush piles and rocky drop-offs. Some bigger fish are still being caught near submerged timber and creek channels. Light wind has helped keep baitfish moving and fish feeding.
White Bass are beginning to school up and chase shad in open water. Anglers using spoons and small swimbaits are picking up decent numbers mid-morning. Crappie are holding tighter to deeper brush and structure, with jigs and minnows doing well around docks and submerged trees.
Boat traffic is light during the week, offering peaceful conditions for fishing. As temperatures warm, expect the bite to push deeper mid-day. Make sure your Texas fishing license is current and bring plenty of sun protection and hydration for longer trips.
